Ordering: how a program starts

Roadtrace is a sourcing desk, not a factory. It is a FULVERA sourcing brand that coordinates partner factories in the Shenzhen dash cam cluster, checks samples and bulk, and arranges freight. An order starts with a brief: the product lines you want, quantities per model, the markets you sell into, branding needs and a target in-warehouse date. The desk answers in writing with a shortlist, a sample plan and the reference MOQ. Only after you approve a sample and a written order sheet does bulk production begin. The full sequence is on the procurement process page.

MOQ and lead time

Minimums depend on the route. Ready models in neutral packaging can start from small trial orders. Private label with your logo and packaging is typically quoted from about 100 pieces per model, in line with terms that Shenzhen OEM suppliers publish. Firmware or app branding sits higher, and a new housing or mold is quoted per project. Lead times follow the same logic: stock samples ship in days, custom samples take about 7-15 working days, bulk on a stock-based platform typically runs about 15 working days, and custom programs about 25-45 days after sample approval.

These are reference ranges, not promises. Details are on MOQ and lead time.

Samples

Samples are the quickest way to find a problem. Stock samples of ready models can ship quickly by express courier, typically about 3-7 days door-to-door. Custom samples with your logo, box or firmware changes take longer because the factory builds them to your sheet. Ask for day and night clips from the sample before you approve it, and check every function you plan to print on a box: GPS lock, WiFi pairing, parking mode, loop recording and G-sensor lock. The approved sample becomes the reference that bulk is inspected against.

Customization and OEM

Customization has three levels. Level one is private label: logo on the housing and boot screen, your gift box, manual and warranty card. Level two is firmware and app branding: interface text, languages, app name and icon. Level three is ODM: a changed housing, a new mold or a different component platform. Each level raises the minimum and the lead time, and each is quoted per project. See OEM and ODM and firmware and app customization for what changes at each step.

Certification and compliance

Roadtrace does not hold certificates. Test reports and certificates come from the producing factory or an accredited lab and are checked by report number for each model. Typical targets are FCC Part 15 for the US (a WiFi model needs an FCC ID), CE with RoHS for the EU (WiFi models also fall under the Radio Equipment Directive), UKCA for the UK, and an E-mark for vehicle EMC in commercial and fleet programs. Lithium-battery models need a UN38.3 test summary for shipping. Tell the desk which markets you sell into, and ask for the matching documents before you commit. The overview is on certifications, and it is general information, not legal advice.

Shipping and customs

Goods typically leave through Shenzhen's Yantian or Shekou ports, or by air from Shenzhen Bao'an or Hong Kong. Typical ranges are about 3-7 days for express samples, about 5-10 days for air freight, about 15-25 days port-to-port by sea to the US West Coast and about 30-45 days by sea to Europe. Incoterms such as EXW, FOB Shenzhen, CIF and DDP are available depending on the route and are confirmed for each shipment. Dash cams are commonly classified under HS heading 8525, but classification and duty rates for your product are a question for a customs broker. See logistics and shipping.

After-sales and quality claims

Quality work happens before shipment: image checks, functional tests, burn-in and AQL sampling per program, with optional third-party inspection. If a defect is found after delivery, send the order number, photos or clips and the unit serial numbers to the desk. The desk coordinates the claim with the producing factory and replies in writing with the options. Warranty period, replacement terms and spare-part ratio are agreed per order and stated in the written agreement. The inspection steps are listed on quality control.

Payment terms

Payment terms are agreed per order in writing. They are set out on the written quote or order sheet together with the Incoterm, the production schedule and the inspection point, so both sides can see what is due and when. The site publishes no prices and no standard payment schedule, because each program differs in scope, quantity and customization. If you need a specific arrangement, state it in the brief and the desk will address it in the first written reply.

Questions buyers ask

Does Roadtrace publish prices?

No. Prices are quoted per program from a written spec sheet, because chipset, sensor, features, branding and quantity all change the figure. The first reply names a shortlist and the reference MOQ.

Can I order a single sample before a bulk order?

Yes. Stock samples of ready models are available, and custom samples take about 7-15 working days. The approved sample becomes the reference for bulk inspection. Terms are confirmed in writing.

What is the usual minimum for private label?

Shenzhen OEM suppliers commonly publish minimums from about 100 pieces per model for logo and packaging. Firmware or app branding is higher. The figure is confirmed in writing for each program.

Do you hold the certificates for the dash cams?

No. Reports and certificates come from the producing factory or lab and are checked by report number per model. Ask for the documents that match your target market before ordering.

How are payment terms set?

Payment terms are agreed per order in writing, together with the Incoterm, schedule and inspection point. There is no standard schedule published on the site.
